I’m a huge fan of getting a bit creative for Mother’s Day!
But it can be tricky to find the right balance between something that my mum will use over and over, and something that will also communicate how much I love her and how special she is. I always feel like photos are a lovely gift, and they continue to surprise and delight for years to come, and so I wanted to build on that idea in a creative way.
This year I spent a lot of time thinking about it, and came up with the idea of a photo recipe book – a book of mum’s favourite recipes that she could build on over time to create a family recipe collection. I wanted to put some photos of the family and recipes in there, and also give her a way to continue adding new recipes with photos. So decided on this photo recipe book!
For this project I got to try out Canon’s new SEPLHY square photo printer. It’s really easy to use because you can connect it directly to your phone and print using the SELPHY Photo Layout app. The app enables you to add lots of layout options, as well as filters, stickers and frames. The prints are also water and dust resistant, which is perfect when you have the book open on the kitchen bench.

- Canon SELPHY Square Photo Printer (or printed photos).
- Scrapbook
- Pens/label maker
How to
It is so easy to create a custom recipe book. Start by printing photos of your favourite recipes and also some family photos to make it a little more personal. The photo paper actually has an adhesive back meaning it’s so easy to stick them in. Then, start decorating your book! I used pens and a label maker to fill out all the recipes.
