The Best Places To Buy (Affordable!) Art Online

Styling Feb 12, 2019

Today, talking about dressing those walls…

One of the most common questions I get from you guys is about sourcing artwork. It seems like we’re all desperate for simple, pretty and affordable art! But sometimes it’s hard to know where to look, how to frame it or how to display it. So I thought it would be useful to share a series of posts aimed at helping you out on all those fronts! Because in my experience art REALLY makes a space. For this first post, I’ll be sharing all the places I go to find simple, (mostly) affordable art prints, perfect for creating a gallery wall or adding a bit of humour or interest to a forgotten corner.

Where to Buy Prints & Art Online

Marketplaces

The ultimate source for affordable art prints is Society 6, a website that acts as a market place for thousands of artists (they do the printing and fulfilment). It’s HUGE! But with that comes the issue that it’s often hard to filter through and find an artist with a style you like. Too much choice can often be as difficult as too little. BUT, I’ve done a fair bit of trawling and some of my faves are Alja Horvat, Isabella Feliu, mpgmb, Natalie Catalina, Lara Lee Meintjes, Amber Textiles, Anyuka and Anna Dorfman. Alternately you can search for ‘line drawing’ or ‘watercolour’ or the colours you like.

Of course  Urban Outfitters have lots of prints, although I like to avoid the more generic looking ones – their collaborations tend to be good!

In case you didn’t know, you can also shop online on lot of art gallery websites if you’re looking for classical prints or well know artists, I like The Tate Modern and Moma!

Artist Websites

Apart from all the artists I mentioned that are on Society 6, I also really like Hotel Magique for the colours they use.

I’ve been into Jennifer Ament for a while now, a bit more of an investment but worth it!

Of course I can never go past Jasmine Dowling.

I love the feel of prints done by Justina Blakeney.

A few more faves that are a little bit more of an investment? Jai Vasicek, Bobby Clark and Bonnie Gray.

The other places I love to look for art is at flea markets and second hand stores. You can sometimes find affordable additions to your gallery wall, for next to nothing. And often they are already framed which is a bonus!

I’d love to hear if you have any other favourite artists or places to shop!
