Hello 2023!
It’s been so nice taking a little break over the holidays, it’s not something I do often but I’ve enjoyed it immensely. A few of you have reached out and asked for my word of the year printable, so I thought I would share an updated one. I feel like the first few weeks of the year can be a blur, or feel a bit flat after the fun of Christmas festivities, but this little printable always helps me to get inspired!
You’ll know I’ve been doing this exercise for the last five or so years and it really does help me. There’s lots of things I like about it, but it really boils down to the fact that it gives you direction without being too rigid. And given that every year seems to serve up a rollercoaster of unexpected challenges (and opportunities!) being able to adapt and change depending on what life throws at you can be useful. The printable also includes a little goals exercise which you can take or leave depending on how much you want to do. You can download the printable here.
MY 2023 WORD OF THE YEAR
Explore
My past few years words have been ‘balance’, ‘grow’, ‘evolve’ and ‘health’. In all honestly, I think I might have failed at my word ‘balance’ last year, but here’s hoping I can refocus on the word the year! My word of the year for 2023 is explore, which was actually a tricky one to come up with. I wanted to find a word that would be a good reminder of how I feel about the year, and I think this one is prefect. Here are a few things I’ll be focusing on:
Explore what makes me tick. Over the last decade, it’s been such an interesting journey to finding what I love to do and sharing that with this incredible community, and this year I hope to delve even further into myself, getting to know a understand what I love and how I can live that through my projects.
Explore different ways to find happiness. It’s easy to put a lot of your self worth on work and what you do, so this year I’m hoping to carve out a bit of time to explore other things that create a more full life.
Explore different ways to work. This job requires me to be online so much of the day, but this year I am hoping to develop a better workflow that sees more daily time offline to recharge my creative batteries. This was a goal of mine last year which I failed miserably at but there’s no time like the present to re-commit!
Explore the world with the family. It’s been a few years of being home and focusing on that, I’m hoping to get the chance to show the girls some of the world this year.
I’d love to hear what your word of the year is!
