Sevilla. Looking back it feels like some sort of beautiful daydream, but the colourful buildings, lunchtime Rioja and orange tree festooned streets was, in fact, real. I think it’s that Spanish light – so bright and clear that it makes everything seem extra special. Can you tell I’m excited to share with you my Seville Travel Guide? 🙂

It’s funny, when we did our South of Spain road trip we visited many of the major cities in the region, and I kind of thought they would all be quite similar, but that was completely wrong. Each city we visited had a completely different essence, and I think of them all Seville had to be my favourite. Not only did it have the traditional Spanish attractions of Tapas and Flamenco (and bull fighting, if you’re into that), but it also felt like a real, functioning city, with a bustling student population and businesses going about their everyday. I couldn’t help but fall in love with those orange tree lined streets and pristine courtyards. Can you blame me? In case you’re wondering, I wore The Simple Sandals the whole time I was in Seville!

Stay

We chose to stay in the city’s old town – which meant we could explore the cobbled streets of the Santa Cruz quarter on foot and by bike. We stayed at this really really lovely hotel (I searched for hours looking for just the right courtyard!). Others I liked the look of? This one and this one seemed nice too. All with those stunning courtyards I so love.

See & Do

Visit the Alcazar if you’re yet to experience Spain’s Moorish architecture.

Visit the gorgeous Casa Pilatos – I especially loved the gardens.

Visit the Seville Cathedral (it’s a must do).

Head over and check out Plaza De Espana – so many beautiful tiles!

Explore the fashion and art stores around the Museo de Bellas Artes.

Wander the Barrio Santa Cruz (so pretty!, you’ll need to stop for wine).

Hire bikes from the Sevici bikes you see all around town, and go for a spin! We popped over the river to Triana for a ride around.

Go shopping for hats at Maquedano.

Eat & Drink

Have snacks  and wine at El Rinconcillo – a beautiful, traditional tapas bar.

Check out the new restaurant El Pinton for perfect interiors and decent fish tacos!

Have a cocktail at the Hotel Alfonso courtyard.

Have dinner at Perro Viejo (I loved the design here!).

Indulge in some art and food at laid back Red House.

Have modern tapas at Ovejas Negras.

Grab a single origin coffee (Ben finds one in every city we go to) and breakfast at Torch Coffee Roasters.
