Let’s make a bench!
Recently I wanted to update our entryway. The purpose of the space was to be a place where we could put our shoes on before heading out and place bags when coming back in to the house. I didn’t have a lot of room in the space, so I knew a slim line bench seat was my best option. I just couldn’t find the dimensions I needed in any of the furniture shops so I knew this was a great opportunity to try a DIY project. I went with a fun fabric that is very on trend right now – bouclé! With this project, the design options are endless as you can pick any fabric to complement your decor.
You Need
- A plank of wood (sturdy enough to sit on)
- Foam cut to the size of the wood
- Fabric
- Scissors
- Staple gun
- Hairpin Steel Legs (similar to these from Bunnings)
- Screws
1
Roll out the fabric and place the foam in the centre. Place the wooden plank on top of the foam.
2
Keeping the fabric taught the entire way around, fold in the edges neatly and secure with staples approximately every 3 - 5cm.
Voila! For further info on how to style your new boucle bench seat, be sure to read my tips on styling a small entry way. I love how this turned out, and now I can’t wait to try it in other fabrics.
