Before & After: Tie Front Cut Out Dress

Tie Front Cut Out Dress

This summer is shaping up to be all about the dress, whether it’s off the shoulder or laced up. Naturally, I’m totally down with the whole dress situation because a) they’re so easy to thrown on and go when you’re lazy like me and b) your local thrift store is overflowing with dresses that are just asking to me before and after. Or in the case of this little simple project, skirts! This dress is so easy to make, and has a cut out, so you can show off your tan and get some much needed cross ventilation at the same time. To be fair, it’s sorta similar to this dress I made many moons ago, which just proves you can strap it, or not strap it, depending on what you like best. Enjoy!

Before & After: Tie Front Cut Out Dress

You Need:

  • A High-waisted Skirt
  • Scissors
  • Needle and thread

How to:

1. Measure how wide your piece of fabric should be to cover your bust. Cut away this amount of fabric along the bottom of your skirt

2. Open up the stitching at one of the side seams using scissors or a quick unpick

3. Fold your piece of fabric in half and line up the halfway point with the back of the skirt. Hand stitch the two pieces together along the back. Finish the bottom of the skirt part by sewing a new hem.

Voila!
