DIY Velvet Choker

Soooooooo… Have you recovered from Christmas yet?

I’m pretty much rolling around with a knife, fork and spoon glued to my hand, that ham in the fridge ain’t gonna eat itself. The best part about this time of year is that once the 25th passes you’ve got the festivities of New Year’s Eve to look forward to – it’s the party that never ends. Ummmmm until you hit January first. In the event that you’re looking for a bit of a throwback accessory before we rush headlong into 2016, this velvet choker might be just the ticket. A little bit 90’s, a gold circle adds just the right amount of the two thousands.

DIY Velvet Choker

For the velvet, I used a 50cm (20 inch) long strip. You can buy this as velvet ribbon in different thicknesses or cut it out of some velvet fabric which is particularly handy if you have some scraps lying around the house!

1

Cut your velvet in half.

2

Place the hoop on top of the opening of the velvet ribbon.

3

Pull the ribbon through and glue it down on each side so the ribbon is attached.

Like what you see? Or just want to save it for later?

Voila!

Tie at the back of your neck to secure it. The simplest thing you’ll make all year. 😉
