There’s nothing I like more than a bench, they are THE MOST adaptable piece for your house. Use them in your living room for extra seating, at the end of the bed for throwing your clothes off at night, or in your bathroom for storage. Their uses are endless!
And you know what’s even better? They are sooo easy to make. I’ve made a simple hairpin leg bench before, but for this one I’ve added a canvas covered cushion and leather strapping for a slightly more expensive feel. Scroll down for the tutorial.

You need
- A plank of wood
- 4 hairpin legs
- Foam cut to size of your plank (I cut up a bench seat cushion)
- Canvas fabric
- Glue
- Leather strapping or old belts
- Staple gun and staples
- Nails or screws for attaching the legs
How to
- 1. Take your cushion/foam and lay it out.
- 2. Put the canvas underneath and start wrapping it like a present.
- 3. Wrap it up nice and tight.
- 4. Trim any extra fabric.
- 5. Fold the edges in and glue them down.
- 6. Place the plank on top, and then the hairpin legs where you want to attach them. Then decide where your strapping with go.
- Use your staple gun to attach the leather.
- Finally, attach your legs to the plank.
