Oh what a night.
Last week was SUCH a whirlwind. The cherry on top of the whole week was my book launch, where my Brisbane readers, family and friends came together to raise a glass to my new book, Home Is Where You Make It. After moving back to Brisbane at the end of last year, it felt only right to get down and boogie with my Brisbane readers. Straight away I knew that West Elm would be the perfect venue for this sort of party, and I was in luck because they very kindly offered to host it! On the night it was a cosy, sparkly beacon amongst the storm clouds and rain.
We sipped on Lexington Hill Margaritas and Espresso Martinis as well as yummy Remedy Kombucha, and chowed down on an amazing grazing table from Gerard’s Bar. I then had a Q&A with my publisher Kelly Doust, and talked all things writing, juggling and future plans. Topped off with book signings and me getting to meet so many amazing people! It was absolute heaven, and honestly felt like all my Christmas had come at once.
If I’m 100% honest, I was a bit nervous doing this event. It’s hard when you sit behind a computer all day to imagine that people will want to come out and meet you in person, and the night I published the invitation, all I could imagine was me and tumbleweeds. But within a few hours we had 100 people signed up, and on the night we had 200 people come along. To say I am awed and grateful is a huge understatement. Thank you to all the lovely Brisbane people who made it such an incredible night! I hope it’s the first of many great get togethers in this fair city.
This night wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my friends at West Elm, Lexington Hill, Remedy Kombucha and Gerard’s Bar. As always, thank you to the team at Murdoch Books, in particular Kelly and Lisa for helping me organise the night! And finally, thank you to everyone who has bought my book. It’s things like this that support me to dream up new projects and ideas for you guys, so from the bottom of my heart thank you. Without further ado, I thought I would share a few pics from the night!
