It’s getting to that time of year again… Gift giving time!
This year I wanted to share lots of different ways you can make things for your family and friends, and you won’t be surprised to learn that lots of those involve my favourite DIY of all time (and one that was born this time last year), Trash to Terracotta! I made these bowl vessels a while ago but realised they would make such a lovely gift, so thought it was fitting to share them now. Read on for how to make them, it’s so simple.
For this project I made one simple style using terracotta paint, which I thought was a nice jewellery holder or planter, and the other I made into a candle. Note that I didn’t paint inside the bowl that I planned to put the wax in.
You need
- Two matching bowls
- Paint in white and terracotta tones
- Baking POWDER
- A Paint Brush
- Super glue or hot glue
- Candle wicks
- Candle wax and heating implements (microwave or stovetop)
How to
- I got these thrifted bowls from Vinnies and knew that would be a great base for this project.
- Two matching bowls are the ideal base.
- Mix up a batch of my #trashtoterracotta paint, one cup of paint to one teaspoon of baking powder.
- I used that on all the thrifted pieces I found.
- And then I made a candle! I glued wicks into the base…
- After gluing together the two bowls at the based, I then poured in the hot wax.
Voila!
I think it might be a VERY trash to terracotta Christmas.
