How To Upcycle Candle Jars into Cake Stands

Home DIY Jun 3, 2022

I don’t know about you, but I love candles and every time I finish burning one, I just can’t bring myself to throw the vessel out.

Luckily, the Circa candles come in a beautiful fluted glass canister (I have a full set that I use for drinking glasses lol) so it’s pretty easy to reuse them. For this upcycle, I wanted to use some to make something a little bit different and inject a bit of colour. Hello pink cake stands!

I love having a cup of tea and something sweet with my Mum or with friends for birthdays and Mother’s Day and I’ve been in need of something really cute to serve sweets on. This little DIY is so simple and is such a fun way to reuse those old candles.

how to

  1. First, make sure your candle is completely cleaned out. There are a few ways to do this but I just filled mine with boiling water to melt the wax and scraped it out.
  2. Once clean and dry, paint the inside of the glass with paint that matches the colour of your plate. I mixed a pink colour to perfectly match.
  3. Once the paint the dry, turn the glass upside down and put some hot glue over the base of the glass.
  4. Centre the plate onto the glass and gentle press down.

Like what you see? Or just want to save it for later?

Voila!

They make the cutest little stands. It was so easy to create a beautiful table setting with these and a few extra Circa candles. Oh and flowers of course. Flowers always!
