Dresses. Although they make up a relatively small portion of my outfits in usual daily life, for some reason come the holidays they’re all I want to wear. Get on my body now dresses. With lots of holiday parties in my sights and in my calendar, I wanted to embrace the DIY spirit of the holidays and share with you a few ideas for what to wear (and DIY) this season. Whether it be your Christmas Party, Family get together or NYE shindig, why not try a bit of DIY? I was originally just going to share with you dress number 2, but then thought why not pull together a few other options for you, both recent and not so recent. Enjoy!
5 Party Dress DIY Ideas
Date night ready in this simple before & after, it’s pretty sheer for the of you that are feeling out there, others throw a cami underneath.
THE CIRCLE STRAP DRESS
You’ll know from recent posts that circles are having a moment, so I thought what better way to take this dress (previously a shift dress) into somewhat festive territory. So simple I didn’t think I would bore you with a tutorial, but something you could consider for an old, run down dress you’ve got in your closet.
Here’s a close up of the detail. Granted, it’s not a kg of glitter or 864982782 rhinestones which would be more appropriate, but sometimes simple is best, right?
Although quite beachy in white cotton, if you made this one in a heavier fabric with a more luxe feel (think velvet, brocade or satin), it would be perfect for your holiday bash.
Oldie but a goodie, make this one yourself really easily, just be careful to make sure it’s super tight so you don’t have any nip slip.
I mean, come on. It wouldn’t be the holidays without a touch of sequin, would it? This is easy to add to any old dress… instant lift!
And Finally, THE SIMPLE BLACK SHIFT
Cos sometimes simple is best, right? You can even spill your drink on this dress and no one will know. 🙂
Did you notice there was 6 dresses? Just thought I would test you out there. 🙂 Which dress would you wear guys?

This time of year I really want a dress that will be festive but will still keep keep me warm at holiday parties. I wish you had included a choice with long sleeves or with a pretty jacket.

I love these DIYs! You gave me a great idea – I own a secon hand dress really similar to the first one (from before) but I don’t wear it as I feel old in it. I think cropping it and removing the material from underneath will make it way more modern. I need to get to that before Christmas! 🙂
