Hey guys!
If you’ve been reading here for a while you might remember a DIY project I did many (many) moons ago, turning a simple stretch singlet top into a wrapped crop top. The project was an idea I had after seeing some similar things on the runway, and it took all of 5 minutes to create. I should have known that the ease of creating this project would catch on, and it’s turned out to (year after year) be the most popular DIY on this blog. Yes really! It has close competition from this, this and this. But it’s the winner. Recently it hit the half a million readers mark so we thought it would be fun to celebrate by creating for you a new version – this time with long sleeves. A few people had requested this in the comments so we thought it was time. Scroll down to watch the video!

I feel like this would make the perfect ballet top too! Or a great costume if you are planning to go as a dancer or a ballerina to something. And because these tops tend to be quite busty (depending on your boob size obviously) I like to pair mine with a high waisted trouser or skirt. This keeps the look simple and streamlined… And is great if you’re like me and not that into showing your abs (or, ahem, lack thereof).
And guys, we’re really excited to share more videos with you this year – both through our home renovation process as well as various DIYs and lifestyle videos along the way. Feel free to subscribe to my youtube channel to get notified when a new video goes up! Oh and if you’re got any suggestions for videos do let me know!

This is so stylish! I really like it more when you design your own pieces, this is much more creative than simply copying/reimagining designer’s pieces.

‘No sewing’ always sounds good to me 🙂
This is such a cute idea and I love how easy it is to make 🙂

Do you think you could do something similar with a men’s button down shirt?
I tried this last night with a regular button down. Here’s the problem: this version works because of the stretch in the material. That makes it possible to tie the ends behind you. What you might be able to do is sew large ribbon or fabric onto the ends to help tie it.
Yes, that could work, thanks for the feedback!
There this one designed for re-making a men’s shirt – it’s not a plunging neckline but I suspect it’s easy enough to tweak the pattern to wear backwards, so to speak and make it V-necked that way.

A little beyond my skill level, but that’s a beautiful take on it!
Wow this is so easy! You look amazing in it too. Would love a hair tutorial if you’d consider it – I’d love to do waves like this.

Very cute!
Btw may I ask what bra you’re wearing? You look great!
This is gorgeous! Great DIY 🙂
Is there a way to get the knot to be smaller? Maybe cutting the ends to be thinner, or sewing on ribbon instead of tying with the ends of the shirt?

Oh wow, this is PERFECT. I just got a pair of bellowing red velvet pants and this would be the perrrrfect top. How did you read my mind?!

It’s gorgeous but is there any chance of a non-video tutorial, please? There are quite a few of us who really really really can’t follow anything on video and need written instructions, maybe with photos or a quick sketch?
It would be appreciated ever so much…
Hi! I love your bag. Where did you get it? 🙂
Beautiful and I need the purse in my wardrobe! http://www.itsamazing40.com
I was seriously just thinking about how I could create a shirt like this for myself! This is exactly perfect for what I wanted to do! Thank you so much! I can’t wait to post on social media the result! <3 xo – Crystal
