How To Make A Stone Vanity Mirror (With Just 3 Materials!)

Home DIY May 23, 2022

Get ready for the simplest DIY ever. It’s 3 materials and a couple of steps to create this modern, textural mirror.

As you guys know, I’ve been working on a mirror series,  and I’m loving creating completely different looks with random stuff I find at Bunnings. If you’ve followed me for a while you will know that’s one of my favourite past times – using materials in completely different ways to create something that’s unexpected and totally custom. Like my Garbage Bin Table, Fluted lamp using a blind or my Plastic Bottle Lamp.

I saw a really cool mirror at my hairdresser recently that was sitting in a piece of stone, and I immediately knew I wanted to recreate something similar and was keen to find something that I could use. I headed to the garden section to look through the stone and concrete pavers.

If there is one thing you can take away from any of my tutorials, let it be this – when looking for materials for DIYs at a hardware store, no section or aisle is out of the question! Stroll every aisle, even the ones you don’t think will have what you need, because you never know what random material will jump out and be the perfect thing. I can’t tell you how many times I head in thinking I have an idea of what I need and then I find something unexpected that works even better than my original idea.

I found this cream, concrete garden edging and felt like it would be perfect as a base for a mirror. As always I forged ahead not knowing for sure how it would turn out but once I got home and held the pieces together I got that little excited feeling because I knew this was just going to work!.

How to make a Stone Mirror

1

This really is so simple, the first step is to apply liquid nails to the back of the edging pieces.

2

Place the mirror in between the two edging pieces and use two clamps to hold it all together firmly while the glue dries.

3

Leave the glue to dry overnight and them remove the clamps. That's it!

Like what you see? Or just want to save it for later?

Voila!

It really is that easy. If you can use liquid nails then you can do this.
