Does anyone remember the Peppa Pig inspired clubhouse Ben and I built last year? Since finishing it, the girls have been loving it!
Their latest favourite game to play is “cafe” where they serve Ben and I tea cups full of rocks over and over again. Sounds fun right? Lol. Well it makes them happy and that’s all that matters. So when I saw this little kitchen at the tip shop a while back, I knew it would be the perfect addition to their ‘cafe’ and maybe inspire some other imaginative games for them to play!
When I first found this piece, I posted a story onto my Instagram, asking my followers what colour I should paint it, there were some really great ideas, but I loved a woman’s response who suggested we paint it blue like one of those vintage looking Smeg refrigerators. I didn’t want to go all blue but I did love the idea of giving it a 50’s vibe and painting most of it blue.
Because this piece would be outside in the clubhouse, I made sure to give it a good coat of primer, using British Paints 4 in 1 Prep Water Based Primer Sealer Undercoat. Once that had dried, I used the same colours I used for the rest of the Peppa Pig clubhouse (‘My Favorite’, ‘Fizzy Pink’ and ‘Hot Pop Blue’), except this time I actually mixed them with other colours to get a lighter blue, orangey yellow and softer pink.
I couldn’t figure out what was originally attached to the front of the shelf, so I decided to add a piece of wavy timber with a bit of liquid nails. I think it’s a really cute and playful element that what just a spur of the moment decision (those decisions usually turn out the best).
